ABOUT

Andrew Gale

My practice includes mixed media painting, drawing, printmaking and artists' books. I am inspired by the natural environment, exploring the landscape and people in the landscape as well as social issues and political activism. Walking is an important aspect of my practice.

Workshops and commissions undertaken.

I curate, with Lynda Pritchard and Julie Holmes, Foxlowe Arts Centre's Drawing Room Café wall, in Leek and support the curation of artwork at Glossop Labour Club.

Exhibitions in the UK and USA.

For most of my life I worked internationally in industry and then in higher education. In Manchester I collaborated with fellow academics, engineers, artists and industry to develop postgraduate education in conceptual design for combined groups of fine art and engineering students. I hold a BA (1st Class Hons) in Fine Art, from Sheffield Hallam University and a foundation degree in Creative Art and Design Practice (with distinction), from the University of Derby.
